So off we went to Lincomb yesterday for the hunter trial. We had entered the 2'9'' as this was the highest class they did, but I must say on walking the course, I thought it was a pretty decent test for a 2'9''
Fence 1 was nice and easy (and on the small side) 2 was a decent log, he got a little sticky at this one so a little smack as a reminder (I also head butted him which you'll see on the hat cam!! Poor horse lol!) 3 was a nice chair then onto 4 which was a roll top A and B, B was slightly off set, we were a little wobbly to the B part as I didnt set him up great, but a little kick and as alwys he's straight as a dye (sp) and through clear, onto 5 which was a very small log but landing down a steep hill so pootled down that hill slowly then kicked on for a nice box type thing at 6, 7 was a little wonky shaped log into the water (sorry for my non technical names, I dont know all the fence names but you get the idea!!) 8 was on top of a bank, just a nice log then rolling down hill to swing right for the train, 9 was a nice roll top flower box and 10 was another wonky log! 11 was the sunken road, steady through there to make the turn right to a pretty decent corner at 12, great through there, but I did get him a bit wrong so we jumped the wide part of the corner (good job he's honest) then swing right for 13 which was jump on and off another bank, 14 was a wide ditch and then two strides to a really skinny roll top, a bit wobbly to the roll top but a good kick and he went fine. 15 was a nice box to a water splash and then onto 16 which was a decent sized hay cart off not the easiest line (listen on the hat cam for me reminding myself to be 'committed' 'committed' to this fence :D) 17 was a decent brush and then a gallop on up the hill home to 18 which was just a nice small let up fence to finish, so clear and cue massive pats and a big :D from me.
Commentator gave us nice comments again, 'finishing very strongly' so again :D from me!
Took him back to the box and he recovered really quickly, so a wash off and a well deserved graze for him on the lush grass, then we loaded him up and went to feed ourselves.
I couldn't believe my eyes when the scores went up and we only went and WON it!!! To say I was over the moon is a massive understatement! We won a nice red frilly, a t-shirt and a lovely white numnah! So our first win at a hunter trial :D
This horse deserves a win every time out as in the 3 years i've had him he has never once put a foot wrong on the xc, (touch wood for the future!) he has been clear every single time we've been out, but numpty rider just cant get the timing right, we're always too quick, but yesterday we were 2 seconds off the optimum time and two weeks ago at Eland we were 1 second off. So im hoping im starting to get myself together on that one and its not just a fluke! *fingers crossed*
I don't think our round was as smooth as Eland a couple of weeks ago but to be honest I let my nerves get the better of me a little, as we had never been there before I was just winding myself up, as always for no reason whatsoever as I have the most genuine and forgiving horse in the world.

Anyway enough of my gushy, ramblyness!! Here is our hat cam video of our round, I hope you enjoy...

Thanks for reading :)

Can't watch video at work but will when I get home.

Brilliant result well done :)

I did the 2ft 3" and came 4th - really chuffed - glad I didn't go for the 2ft 9", agree it looked pretty big!!

Loved watching this!! You two make it look so easy- very envious of how he barely even seems to glance at the ditch and the step down..! Hope mine is able to do XC that smoothly and confidently at some point...
That hay cart did indeed seem pretty decent sized  :)

PooJay - speed ears ! Love it :D
Another great report and well deserved win !
I looked up the headcam you said it was in your last post and it actually looks like a camera so how do you fit it to your hat ? The other ones that I've seen are small and round and strapped to the side :)

Excellent, almost feel as if I could do that :p as it looks so easy.....not sure how you have the guts to go quite so fast but you both obviously love it! :D

That looks like so much fun- well done x

Thank you :)

Thanks!
The camera is really small and you have to get the hat strap to go with it, it then screws into a waterproof case and the strap fits snug around your hat, if that makes sense?

Love it!! Well done for the win!

Thank you :)
