ASA bans LUSH hunt campaign

Actually, and interestingly, I spent 10 minutes trawling the lush website until I found they do still support the HSA. They're certainly not tooting any trumpets about it anymore!

Did the HSA smear campaign hurt the purse a bit?? I think so! But do remember, Lush DO STILL SUPPORT HSA - just in the same covert, underhand, sneaky manner we've come to associate with HSA over the years...

In the interests of balance (which being pro-hunting I am very keen on) and having seen the full ASA report I would just like to add that not all the complaints about the campaign were upheld. However overall they felt the campaign should be withdrawn.

I wrote a written complaint to the ASA about this - and was actually impressed with the way they dealt with it (having never complained before!)- particularly with keeping me informed, I received letters letting me know what stage it was at, when to expect answers, etc. Then a full letter explaining every objection in detail and why / why not things were upheld. Pleased they took it seriously anyway - even if now the HSA are back to their underhand ways!

I guess the thing about Lush's support of the HSA is the sheer ignorance of their sympathy. Don't they realize they are being had by a buch of thugs who see hunts as a target because they think we are all 'priveleged' or 'toffs'? Having spoken with several of these HSA people - and even 30 years ago I was fascinated and curious as to just WHY they thought hunting was 'cruel' - it soon became very clear that their motives were a combination of prejudice and fantasy and aggro ; many of them are very sick people.
But for a commercial company to support them casts serious doubts on the judgement of Lush.

A company that tries to portray such an ethical and caring image while dealing with such a ruthless, violent and underhand organisation is just blatently two faced. Their propoganda is jsut that, propoganda!
Almost every I know that hunts works very hard to enable them to do it (I have two jobs and work every hour to keep my mare and be able to hunt her!). And yes it's worth it!
