Would this venue suit a fairly inexperienced horse when it comes to XC competitions ? (but has done a fair bit of XC schooling)
I've been told it's quite hilly ? I want to give the horse a nice confidence boosting experience.
If not Ascott, where ?

I'm local, ie next village over, and from what I have seen driving past the course starts at the bottom of a hill, goes along the bottom, then up the hill with quite a few jumps on the top which looks flattish, then back down to the finish. I can get a photo later if you would like.

Your super close to me then! I work in Leafield.
Spangles, my daughter did this one when she started eventing. I think it’s nice there but it was a few years back, new owners since.

Used to work there too!

Like I say we haven’t been out and about for years, but my Daughter always had a good time there, the only thing I do remember was the show jumping being very slippery one year but her horse was playing up a bit. Other than that it’s been fine.
Aston Le Walls is also nice and not a million miles away

It’ll be pretty much the same course so make no difference.

Yes it’s nice, but hilly at points so fitish horse needed. Sometimes they make use of undulating ground even in 80 but simple fences. For something flat, easy and dull I’d take a baby to Aston le walls.
