Does anyone know anything about Ascott Under Wychwood? I know it is a new event this year, and the description states that it is a good first run for PN, but I always take these descriptions with a pinch of salt....

Anyone any views on what it is like there (have they run unaff's before)?

Thankies

No idea.
Competed around there years ago, and di the odd sponsored ride.

With my old boss we used to take her eventers up there for schooling.

I would think, because its being built/designed by Etherington SMith that it will be beautifully presented and big timber used. Might be worth you going over to Great Tew and looking at their course!
Im doing teh PN there on 9th june

course is up to height and big timber used, but surprsingly most horses will jump round them better than the smaller trappier courses.

Yeah - not the must successful of days....
However, lots of educational pieces to take from the day and was pleased with him overall - just thoroughly annoyed with myself.
Biggest educational piece - must remember to eat and drink before and during an event to keep strength up and not rely on nicotine alone......

As long as you got things out of it

Did you have a problem on the course?? there were loads who had a problem in the SJing, how did you get on?

SJ was the biggest headache. He seems to have suddenly found his jump in the SJ and took me unawares so there was a few miscommunications

and quite a few time penalties. We will be working on that with Laurence on Saturday, but he did feel mega

Was dead pleased with him XC - 7th was our achilles heel. Took the alternative at the steps and there was someone walking the course standing there which took his focus rather than the fence. Other than that his confidence is massively growing. MK2 is our next run as away the end of May when I wanted to go up to Prestwold

The steps were big werent they!
I went direct there, but lots of ppl milling around i did wonder if he would freak!

LOL he does look like he has a huge jump! love the sjing pics! very clean toes he has

Sjing was my headache too funny enough, bloody horse thinks anything under 1m should be raced at and hit at speed

I may be at MK2 but doing BYEH as hope to run at Salperton if I dont get to go to Ede with Mde and SJ.

In hindsight wished I'd gone direct at the steps but ho-hum.

Would be good to meet up with some fellow HHO'ers if you're at MK - especially as I've been to the last two events by myself. Always good to have someone to chat with (poor people parked up next to me have had to listen to my whittering the past couple of times)

You should have fun doing BYEH on your chap - he is a smart boy!

You should have said! Mrs T came and groomed for me and we coudl have helped each other.

I did MM a few years ago and did the direct route then, i had to with Winston as hes too damn big to take off his line!

Yep be great to meet up
