Ashford market

I was going to ask the same just found out that one of our poor horses is being put in, really upset by this she derserves better poor old thing, was going to see if anyone was going could keep any eye out and see what happened to the poor thing, I think I know waht is going to happen and do not want to even go there :(

So many little ponies going through - where are they all coming from?

I might go but last time ended up bidding on a knackered, old and lame mare who just looked so tired of life and an elderly shetland mare with a history of laminitis *rolls eyes* luckily both went for reasonable money.

Which one is your mare EbonyAllen?

Thank you I would love you to think she will be listed as a black cob 17 year old mare, such a same she really does not need this I am trying to either get the money together to try and stop this as sure she will end up with the meat man, been in tears all day since found out. The owner can not be bothered had her for 9 years and never done a thing with her just left her to rot, and after all the years with us being about 9, she is just going to put her in the market, words fail me I so wish I had the money to buy her, the owner has been offered a home for life, just hand her over but she bloody well will not, thinks she is going to make money, I so do not think so . Any info you can give would be a great help, just wish I had more money :(

Thank you so much, can not bare to go :(

Oh god not mine, its another woman who does not give a s..t about her, black cob 17 years old, has a white blaze, bless her feel so sorry that it has come to this, I hate the woman for doing this :(

such a shame that people are like that! if i had the money id give her a good home or get her back to you! but i dont think my budget would stretch to that :(

edited to add, sorry i thought she was previously yours! still wish i had the cash, but then id buy loads i felt sorry for!

All the little ponies come from the same breeders every time, they're almost a fixture. I'll be there , although I agree it's pretty depressing - over the last year there have been hordes of good horses and ponies going through the ring due to the recession. BUT there are usually some nice buyers there - take heart Ebonyallen.

Thank you any news on her would would be great, I just so hope that she finds a good home, but I think at her age its not going to happen, take care dear Millie x

If she's a nice mare it's not without hope. I bought my Mollie earlier this year and she's 17 too. Admittedly it wasn't at a sale, but there are people who'll buy older horses!

Ooh how awful :( I hope she goes to a nice place!

Oh, I see her, lot 66 Millie. What a shame but a lot of private buyers go to Ashford. The mare I was bidding on was seriously not worth anything but went for over £700 (this is when I ducked out :)) - I think a lot of people felt sorry for her.

What sort of money does the owner, think she will make? Hopefully she will put a decent reserve on her. Someone more used to markets might correct me but she could just make £350 - £400, when you take fees and transport off, not a lot of money.

I do not know only found out today through someone who looked after her for a year !! she is so upset but this woman will not hand her over, she can not be ridden, she bucks everyone off really nasty bucks, we have for months said she needs her saddle checked and back but she will not do this, she has not ridden her for years, try to get other people to they get bucked off and never turn up again !! It says she has done stuff in the past but for the last nine years she has done nothing, she is a dream to handle from the ground but you can not ride her and she will not have her checked out, so either some poor person is going to buy her and end up with a nightmare on their hands or failing that she is meat, I am so very very cross angry and upset, blooody woman should never had her in the first place such a waste and now at 17 loads of bad habbits ingrained :( :(

Just wanted to say although sad many ponies and horses find some lovely homes, i have a pony and a dog from Ashford, and over the years have known a few. Fingers crossed all entered will find a lovely caring home for winter. My OH has now baned me from going i was forgiven the pony and dog but think he is to scared to think what i might come home with next time x lets hope the old black cob finds the right person to love her, sounds ideal for my Dad! is she a safe Hack?

ugh theres always so many welshes on the market, I imagine most of them end up at the meat man?

Sorry that a no, she really needs her back checked and saddle go back to basics and see what the problem is but the B.... can not be bothered, so now it just get shot and let someone else have the problem errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Sorry to say this Ebonyallen, but aren't you rather putting potential buyers off? At this rate the only people who will want her ARE the meatmen!

Well they'd find out the truth sooner or later, so why lie?
just end up at square one again.

Blimey, you would think they would have changed her name :o

As for poor Millie. I wonder how her owner convinces herself she is doing the right thing by the horse. :(

I can see where you are coming from, but after seeing first hand what she does I really would not want this to happen to someone that does not have a clue, she just needs a little care and her back and saddle checked, could not live with myself it she really hurt someone. Seen some very good riders chucked off, trust me I do not want her to go to the meat man, but like wise I really do not want someone to get hurt when its not really her fault.

well im glad people say things about horses that are in the sales, for all we know there could be someone novice looking for an older bombproof horse that might have been interested and the mare could end up maybe in worse hands than she is now!
