This is very sad. Apparently he left a wife and two children.

On the US accident, it was at Galway Downs which is considered to be a tough ** course - many of the fences are thought to be *** level. Unlike the death in Doha, there may have been some inexperience involved with Mia (the girl who sadly died). She was 17 and her horse was 7, so, I hate to say it, but possibly they weren't experienced enough between them to work through the problem.

The saddest part is that there were two sisters in that family and her 19 year old sister died on a hack a couple of years ago. I have heard different accounts but it sounds like her horse spooked.

I can't imagine losing two daughters to horse accidents.

Here is something that we decided not to post on our site. I am sharing this because we are all grown up equestrians. These are not my photos so I cannot answer any questions about them. We will not be reproducing them at our site, http://eventing-blog.com

I gather these are photos of the actual accident, so please don't look if you don't want to see it:

Please also consider that this was a very rare event - this is the first death in the 55 year history of the Asian Games.

And please say a prayer for his wife and children....
