I am looking to relocate in the next three months to be with my partner. I currently live in Berkshire with two horses on DIY livery. I work as a freelance riding instructor/ housekeeper. Can anyone recommend some good yards in the area ideally a paddock for my own horses and school/fields that are useable all year round.

I am also wondering how easy it is to find work I can teach, lecture or run a yard. Im a BHSII have lecturing experience at a college as well as an Equine and Busiess management degree.

Any help or advice is gratefully received as I have struggled to even locate the nearest equine college to askam!!!

The only problem with being down in Furness is that you will have to travel wherever you go due to being on the Peninsula, and the roads aren't great. There is a riding school at Witherslack, off the A590 or you may need to go up the west coast towards Gosforth where there is a good riding club.

Getting up to Newton Rigg will take around an hour from Ulverston, but you need to get across to Ulverston first.

My in laws lived near askam for about 15 years...they moved away about 5yrs ago. I never saw much horsey activity at all when I visited which was surprising given how rural the surrounding area was. Sure there is stuff going on but not compared to what we have down south.
