Do sellers mind being asked to loan?
I have been trawling through adverts all of which are just too far away or for sale or not suitable etc etc....

except one i came across a beautiful mare who i thought sounded perfect AND the telephone number is our area code so very very local. I dont have the initial cash to buy but am ok to keep another horse so would it be really rude of me to enquire about loaning.

The advert stated "sad sale to to change in personal situation" so maybe a local come and visit/ride whenever you like loan might be good?

Sellers hate it. Just call off the search for say 6 months and you will have saved enough to get your horse search rolling,by setting aside what you would have paid for a horse in that 6months feed etc wise.

It irritates me when I'm selling, if the horse was for loan, it would state for loan.

But you can ask.

my friend has a horse up for sale and has been getting a lot of people asking her if she will loan which is actually really annoying her! he is up for sale or she would have said so I am afraid I go with the save up till you can afford (and it will be quicker to save up if you are not paying for another horse in the mean time)

It is possible they may consider a loan. I was insistent that I sold my mare last year as she wasn't suitable for me but I needed to replace her so a loan would not have worked because I didn't want her to come back to me in the middle of winter ( I only have two boxes at home , so three would be a crowd) , but if I had found a loan that I was confident wasn't " Bouncy" I would have been happy to let her go there. It all depends on why they are selling.
