Asking people to hack out with you? Do you? Dont you?

I run a small livery yard, there are 6 liveries altogether and everybody knows each other and is friendly with each other. Not all of them ride out but a couple do and some others would if they had someone to go with. Now this morning two of them have organised to go for a hack but they haven't asked any of the "possibly would go if they had someone to go with" riders. Is it just me, or am I the only one who would ask the "possiblys" to go too. I hate to see people left to one side!

I would if people were ready to go at about the same time.....provided that we 1)got on ok, and 2) had the same ideas of what a nice ride is!

Some people I have hacked with dont want to do any more than a walk, and some want to gallop flat out at every available piece of ground, whether it be suitable or not......neither of these are my ideal hack, so I would rather go alone!!

It is also up to the 'possiblys' to ask to join the others too though......

Thats yards unfortunatly. Although people often have their reasons for hacking out with who they do, nerves, want a small group, dont want to canter, want a chat etc. You could get the possiblys together and see if they want to go together.

Thanks Maisy, they are all in the same boat with regards to how they hack. None of them are riders who would want a good canter/gallop. Think they would just be happy to go round the block with them. I think its a case of "they haven't asked me so they probably don't want me to go" who knows? I know that I always ask them if I am going maybe they are just not that way inclined? Its just not nice to see, when someone who I know would love to go gets left behind at home while these toddle off down the road!!

I do similar at the yard where I keep my horse - there are only three others who hack out, and I write a note on the whiteboard with a time, that way anyone who wants to can join me and no-one feels awkward if they'd rather not be seen dead with me in public but are too polite to say so

at my old yard i often liked to hack out alone, so i did not bother arranging to ride with others that much, i did sometimes, i was not worried to ask most of the time before, i just did'nt bother really
since moving to my new smaller yard i do tend to ride out with YO almost every weekend without fail, i rarely ride alone now, i have become very good friends with my YO however and would now consider her one of my best mates so i ride out with her

we have a track down to the main road thats about 3/4 mile long and use that as a cool off, if anyone is going down there we just shout to each other so we can go together. I'm wary of who i hack out with (as mentioned before) because of people galloping off etc, luckily we all like quiet hacks!
