So whats the going rate for

Mucking out
Turn out
bring in
change rugs feet etc
exercise

Long story but ive offered to do this for a person at our yard.
Our yard is all diy.

Diy livery, stable, grazing and arena is £110 a month.
Hay and shavings on top.

Plus what i would expect to pay for the assisted bit, probably works out dearer than if the horse was on full livery at a yard offering this!

DIY assisted at our yard is 108.00 a month with stable grass out door school,

on top of that

Mucking out £4
All the rest £1.75 each

Exercise is only offered on full livery but i am on site instructor and an hour schooling is £15 and hacking out £10.

in our area, FULL livery is £100 per week but that includes all feed, bedding, hay etc.
Part Livery is about £45 per week
DIY is £25 per week
Grass is £15 per week
I also do FULL GRASS livery which again inclues all feed etc which is £170 pcm
Hope this helps

Our yard charges £2.50 turnout/rug change/boots/feet - same for bring in. And £4.50 for muck-out, so £9.00 per horse per day for full services.

Exercise - £10 for a lunge £20 for a hack (although these may have gone up - I have an old list and rarely pay for mine to be exercised!).

It probably does work out more expensive than going to a full livery yard - economies of scale and all that.

Our yard is between £350 - £400 a month 5 day full livery, this includes haylage or hay, bedding, mucking out, turn out/ bring in, and hard feed (no supplements). The weekend you need to do your own services but still have feed and bedding

I'm the only one on DIY and pay £140 per horse+bedding/ haylage (this is made on the yard so though very easy to get hold of even in this weather :D). Bring in/ turn out £2 but this includes feet being picked out and changing as many rugs as needed (i was once at a yard when moving any rug was an additional £0.50 which soon mounts up with clipped horses :(). I think mucking out is £4 and if i need them putting to bed at night (add additional rugs, change nets, feed etc) then its £0.50 per horse. If i happen to keep in for the day for any reason then YO puts nets up free or pops them on the walker if needed

thanks for your replies
Ive worked out

Per month (28 days)

Livery
£110
change rugs
£1.75 x 56 = £98
muck out
£4 x 28 = £112

total £320

plus in winter
haylage
£25
shavings
£7 x5 = £35
feed
approx £200

total £400

So £400 a months or £100 a week
This is assuming the owner whats it done full time.

However,
long story but i know the horse and will be doing it for the comfort of knowing horse is being looked after, not as a job.

How much would you think is acceptable to ask considering i will be working for them in my own time, a little money would be handy but its so im sure the horse is cared for?
