"Home Secretary Priti Patel is now reviewing pet theft nationally and considering additional options for enforcement, including harsher penalties for offenders.

The results of the survey, which is being co-ordinated by the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, will help find out how widespread the fear of dog theft is, and whether there is support for tougher enforcement."

Done, but last question could have had a 3rd answer: Yes I agree with the theft sentencing but not the value of £500 reducing the term to 2 years.

Eg, my current dog has no value really, as is an ex rescue, over 10 and various malfunctions. However, I think she is priceless!

Done. While I'm not personally too worried, I think stealing a much loved member of the family is an awful crime and the justice system needs to come into the 21st century to reflect the gravity of the crime.
I think that puppy prices should be capped and that the value of an adult dog should only reflect the sellers costs. The exception being for a proven trained working dog.
