SW peeps what route is best to take?
I did an AA search and it reckoned A30 /A303 then at Illminster go cross country.
Am I better going further up the M5 and then cutting across?
At 89 miles it's a long way to go...
It had better stop raining soon too, I'm really fed up.
I spent ages earlier today delousing 10 of the main herd, planing to do more tomorrow. First it got windy then it threw it down, I doubt there is a grain of louse powder left on a horse now...
I however am a fetching shade of dirty cream and my clothes covered in the stuff...
(don't panic I won't give you lice, we do it every year as standard whether the herd have them or not!)

Not quite sure where you are starting from but have been both ways and not much in it. For me from Exeter I am going M5 and accross as although slightly further just as quick and more economical as better roads. If you are closer to A303 then I would go that way.

Weather man said tonight (for Cornwall) unsettled for next 5 days at least!

Hopeless on routes - but which horse(s) are you taking? Are Jonty and Diamond ready for the competition circuit this year (hope so, it will be so nice to see all of them out and about). Hope you have a good day.

OH is HGV livestock driver. We come up from Cornwall for the B & W show & he insists that the 303 is the best route.

I doubt they'll run, or will probs cancel 2nd day

A30/A303 gets my vote- it's not far from Ilminster and the journey's pretty easy.

Sounds like the 303 it is then.
It's Chocolate's debut eventing, he has done some dressage and sj before, but his total XC experience is four HT last Autumn.
If however it is very deep going we won't do more than dressage and sj, as running Jonty in that sort of ground did her tendon.
She is on the long slow road back to fitness and should compete in June.
Diamond has had a year stabled to allow the crack in her hoof caused by poor shoeing to grow out. It's about 1/2 " from disappearing so she will then start work and compete BE this season. The plan then is to sell her because we have a super youngster of identical breeding (Diamond's aunt and Chocolate) coming on.
Layla should do some spring HT then compete late summer.
In the meantime we have two Matinee four year olds to start, three 3 year olds to play with in the autumn and mares to get in foal..Oh and four foals due!

The farmers around me are saying that the SW is going to have more rain in 5 days than the whole of March normally so be prepared! I think the Bath and West will run intro and maybe see how that goes to whether we run the next day. The Xc is usually fine its the SJ which is a deep mess!

Have you pics of the 4 year olds on your blog? I have a friend who is looking for a youngster, though she did view one last night so may have decided to have that...

Hi Siennamum, there is a pic of them in the archives, but the plan is to start them off and sell as ridden, we have a Belgian rider coming over to work for us later this Spring. I reckon we will keep the little one, and do a bit with the other before advertising him. He looks well but scruffy, the new grass should make him shoot up in height between now and then, and a summer coat makes such a difference.
if you email me on sue@narramorefarm.com I will send a couple of pics I took last week.
