i put a post few days ago saying how fed up i was having asthma and i was waiting to see if this new inhaler helped
well it came yesterday and i was so excited i went down the yard and rode math and just as i thought my chest tigtened so mum gave me the inhaler and I COULD BREATHH!! im so happy i managed to do loads and my airways are so clear.
this means i can do more and start getting fit as this will help strengthen my lungs.this inhaler also has a higher steriod (thingy) meaning my lungs will also get stronger
sorry if this seems so random but not being able to breath properly was really getting me down :) xx
 
What inhaler have they put you on?

I was on ventalin and becatide (sp) and was really bad most of the time then i got changed to Seritide and it was the best thing that could happen to me, like you i can breath.
 
I totally understand your problem, i have Asthma which is a result of guess what............... a severe horse, dog, weed and grass allergy (i had hospital tests a few months ago!). I nearly had a asthma attack a few months ago when a dirty horse rug fell on my head (long story!).

Im going down the desensitisation route - is your Asthma hayfever / allergy related?

Im on symbicort (sp?) and a blue powder reliever.

Aw must be such a relief for you to know you now have something that helps now. It must have been awful for you, I sometimes wake in the night not being able to breath, it so scary. Just a thought but aloe vera gel can help asthma and allergy sufferers :)
 
I know how you feel.
I was diagnosed with Asthma this year - at 38!!
I had being having a lot of breathing difficulties when at the yard, I couldn't believe it when they said I had asthma.
I was advised to change my hobby as it was the only time I was having a problem !!
Well I've got 4 horses and told them that wasn't an option, so we went down the inhaler route.

It works mostly, but I still get times when they just dont seem to work that well, and it is scary when you can't breath.
I've to go back for a re-assessment, hopefully they will get me on the right inhalers like you x
 
If you have bad asthma you should really be taking the preventative (usually becotide/fluctisone) which is a steroid based medicine. That should stop you having the attacks so much. I imagine the new inhaler though is a mixture of the preventative and the the relief one though? Generally docs insist you take the preventative as opposed to the relying on the reliever.

Glad it's helping though. It's a bugger being allergic to animals you want to work with!
