With this weekend cancelled just decided to put entry in for next one. Rather alarmed as web entry says it will cost me £64.05 and we havent reached close of entries yet!

I know I contacted BE about the typo in the mag and they amended the online schedule.

Dont want to put my entry in and be charged an extra £10!

It goes up 10 after the ballot date, which was wednesday.

That always makes me annoyed, why charge you 10 to enter late, when obviously they are desperate for entries.

Shall hopefully see you there

but it doesnt say in the schedule "after ballot date" it says an increase of £10 after closing date which is 29th July! just checked my rule book and it says

"If space allows entries will be accepted after the ballot date until the closing date which will be set by the Organiser. At the discretion of the Organiser entires may be accepted after the Closing Date. All such entries will be subject to a mandatory £10.00 surcharge"

My intepretation of that wording is that is that entries after the closing date were surcharged. Otherwise what is the point of having ballot and closing dates, might as well just say ballot date is the close!

B****r paying an extra £10, not paying £64 for a run.

I really thought it was after the ballot date.
Sorry

Here you go, thats what is says on BE site

I e-mailed the secretary about this and it is a mistake on the on-line entry, but what she said is the £64.05 includes the start fee, which is ok as long as you don't w/d!! Just for ref, the extra £10 is added after closing date not ballot date. Hope that clarifies things, if not e-mail the sec as they do get back to you quickly.

BB's made me think there that my interpretation of the wording was incorrect so had a slight panic. Can see how wording in the rule book could be read to mean £10 after ballot.

Agree that the £64.05 is fine as long as you dont withdraw and assuming that those in the secretaries tent are aware of who has entered via the web and therefore doesnt need to pay the start fee!

Not convinced it will work and would be extremely p****d to be asked for a second start fee.

Totally agree! Below is a copy of the reply they sent me.

Hope that helps!

Yes but I use OH's credit card and never see the bill!!!

Thinking about MK and will probably enter. Shame this weekend is cancelled, did you bake cakes, If so do you need a hand eating them?

Yes, flapjack and victoria sponge, but my filling ran away so was going to make a coffee cake instead.
Will make plenty of cakes for next time

Print out the page on the internet which says how much you have just paid, take that to secretarys bit - plus put it in the notes that you are paying etc that why you have covered all areas.
If you sent a chq/paper entry i woudl worry cos the ballot date has gone and now with all these cancellations its going to be mad. Im now worried i didnt put a sticker on my aston entry.
Do mkec its the day after my 30th, i can come and help

will bring cakes lol

If the M40 isnt blocked tomorrow, shall i bring some for you lol

I too dont think a paper entry is the best option for exactly the reasons you say! Think will do as you suggest and put entry in online.

MK is the six days after my 40th, we could have a big birthday party in the lorry park!

Err is this standard practice or a genuine mistake? Now I'm wondering if I've paid the start fee twice in the past. It's a bit naughty that it's not made more obvious. Do other events do this too? Not impressed.

Ok, I'll get off my grumpy high horse then

Thanks. It's difficult making ends meet anyway so could do without hidden extras. I can forgive a genuine one off mistake though.
