I haven't posted or done a report in ages so I thought I'd update everyone (who's interested!) and just generally say hi. Uni keeps me excessively busy so once again apologies for not posting more often!

So, after my trainer's horse had a nice run in the Int and then stabling the night at Tom Robinson's yard half an hour from Aston (it's 3 hours from us!) we headed off to have a go at our 4th Novice. For those of you who remember Rachelferd; I have her horse Ferdinand on loan and we started at the end of last year at Intro and PN. This year we've done Moreton PN, Portman N, Larkhill N and SofE N; with a placing at the latter.

The weather started a bit grim but was dry for all my phases so I was very lucky! The dressage was a bit pants, he warmed up really nicely then put his tongue over the bit just before we were due to go in.. So we put it up a hole (in hindsight; not the best idea) and he totally took exception to it and did a resistant 41.. Oh well. SJ was really cut up and fairly gluey, we didn't see one clear whilst we were warming up. Ferd had 2 down but did a nice round. XC we went clear with 2.6 time faults; it seemed to be causing a few problems, the two horses that went before me were eliminated. We had one sticky moment at the water where I lost both stirrups on landing and fell on his neck! He propped me back up and I hauled him left over an arrowhead a stride out of the water, a less genuine horse would've run out. So I was very pleased!!

Here are some piccies, taken by Rachel and her mum.

If the piccies don't work, the public album is here. Aston is the last 7 photos. (I think you don't have to be on Facebook to see it!)

I'll try to post a bit more now I'm on hols!

Stunning guy, very jealous!

Looking at that jump I bet he is a nice ride XC.

Good luck with the dressage next time.

Thank you, he's a lovely ride xc, very bold and honest. Although looking at my position I need to put my stirrups down a hole; I have new boots with a really big sole and I think it's giving the efftect of shorter stirrups - that's propably why I nearly took a dunking at the water!

Lovely pics, thanks for sharing them ,really tucks up those front legs.I used to live in Hamble , so the other side of the water from you and now live in the midlands with loads more places to compete

Thank you, he generally has very neat front legs and usually knocks behind, I'm planning to pester Cinda into lending me Brit's back SJ boots (Don't think I'll succeed!!) I was in Hamble this morning, dropping off my boyfriend at Royal Southern for a morning's sailing. It's a very classy place!

Well the royal southern is,my sister had her wedding reception there but I have always spent my wages on horses and moved up north so they think I'm a bit below them.

They have no idea just cos. I'm always up to my knees in mud

they're great your so lucky to manage to juggle uni and compeate!!
i have my horse at uni with me im hoping to go ht and xc this year i wish dressage wasnt part of eventing or i'd join up!!
there are no where near enough xc events on EVER!!

I thought the horse looked familiar from looking at the pictures first, and then I read your post, it's Ferdinand!

I've known him and his owner for some time now as I used to have riding lessons with Rachel.

He's looking very well, hard luck with the dressage - but from what I've seen of him in the past, he can do a really nice test

Good luck, and I've just looked at your entries, and your at Pontispool, might see you there

Super pics, caught sight of them on facebook last night. He makes nothing of those fences

moving up to intermediate wont be too much problem by the looks of it

Hello! *waves*
Nice to hear from you. Fab report and great pics - he looks as though he is enjoying himself and has a super jump. Where next for you guys?

Do you still have Dolly?

It's great that people recognise him, they always have such nice things to say and that's so encouraging. Come and say hi at Pontispool, I expect I'll be a tad nervous about doing an IN but would love to chat; it relaxes me a lot! I expect Rachel or Fran will be coming too.

Thanks BB's, I'm hoping the step up to intermediate will be around August, I thought Aston intermediate was really nice so might aim to debut there. He's got the scope, but the edges still need ironing out! I think a more taxing dressage might suit him though, as his lateral work is really rather good, but I'm still trying to stop myself tensing up the minute I turn down the centre line.

Hey J! And thank you. We're off to Mattingley next for the novice then Pontispool for the IN. Then a well deserved break for June. Hoping to go intermediate around August.

Dolly is fine, well, she has a sacroiliac strain that we can't seem to fix

But the good news is she'll hopefully be put in foal soon.

Then it's fingers crossed she'll come back sound.

How's u? Any plans to event?

Fingers crossed she does come right with some rest - but a baby Dolly how exciting!! Who will you put her too?
I have a new horse - well not so new - had her almost a year now. Mainly did a bit of dressage and SJ over the winter and hope to intro her a bit later this year. We moved north last year too so I guess I won't see you at the same events anymore

Good to see you back on here though and sounds as though your eventing is going really really well
