Not sure if anybody else did Aswanley today? (probably too far North for a lot of you?!). Well it was a nice day, bit of drizzle for an hour but that was it. Ground was almost perfect.

Had a long ass day - dressage on my first horse at 9ish and my second horses didnt go XC until about 6!

In the Novice, it was my boys step up again after having a little loss of confidence a while ago at a big trakhener, so I went back down to PN last time out. So he was back up to novice again. Because I took two horses, they were total morons! So lack of attention (neighing to each other) was a big factor of the day! Dressage went ok on both. Bit tense and hyper but not particularily bad scores for us. SJ - both had 1 down. XC - my grey stormed round which I was so pleased with. He really gave me a great ride and seemed to love it. Think Ive got my confident boy back :P I thought we were going hell for leather but we still ended up with 9 time faults

But we ended up coming 7th overall (out of about 30) in the novice. In the intro, it was my Welsh Cobs first one and he'd only ever done 2 unaffiliated minimus and 1 novice ODE! So it was bigger and scarier than he'd done. I was expecting the odd refusal and my aim was just to complete without the dreaded "E". Was absolutely shocked to finish CLEAR

He jumped some a bit dodgily but he is still very green to all this eventing stuff. He ended up just out of the placings due to 15 time faults (Im not bothered about time just now). Great day though - both went so well

We had two horses at last event and they spent the day neighing to each other - is v annoying.
Am glad your horse is confidently back up to novice, and that welshie had a good time (my welsh cob did two intros last year at the age of 25, and got placed in one of them - they really love their xc).

Yeah - EVERY time after I take 2 to an event I say "never again".....!! The welsh was dreadfully behaved for the first hour and a half. Cant keep him in the trailer as guaranteed he would just jump over the breast bar (yes, he has done several times in the past) so tied them to opposite sides of the trailer so they couldnt see each other - He managed to smash a trailer light, get his hoof on top of the wheel arch bit scraping it and managed to nick himself by his coronet band! Then he was knackered so was fine from then on! Whereas my other horse couldnt give a crap until I took him away for the dressage, where he then neighed like hell and was very fresh!

Yeah, I do love Welshies. He is slow though TBH - he's pretty well built so totally opposite to my TB x Luso! He did find it a little hard going up the hills. Hopefully with more experience he might start to get a bit faster. Welshies do seem to be surprisingly confident.
