After having had a few sh*tty months with my horses it was really nice to at last start enjoying them. A friend of mine very kindly offered me a space on her trailer to go for a ride in Kings Forest this morning. Tarquin has not been great for the last few weeks and I think his basic problem is that he is bored and needs to get out more. We always hack around the park and was getting increasingly more nappy even in company!
Today he was a different horse, he loaded well, unloaded and tacked up calmly and set off in a steady fashion. For the first time I actually did not touch my neck strap until we cantered (he is young and still a bit unpredictable). I trotted with loose reins and just enjoyed him. We even popped a small log which is amazing as he hasn't really done any jumping yet. We got back to the trailer and untacked next to the road and he was so laid back. I knew he could be like this but its all a matter of confidence, especially when you end up on the ground a lot!
I actually forgot about the b*tch at the livery yard that hates me and my horses for no reason and work stress and enjoyed myself. We've got a big show in a fortnight and I am finally going to start entering some stressage comps so we are getting somewhere now, its taken a year but I have atleast achieved something.
Sorry for being so self indulgent, I have held back from posting about my woes and thought it better to try to be positive
