After having searched for months I have at last found a property in Buckinghamshire. My offer was accepted yesterday so fingers crossed we are on our way!

It has 15 stables, a menage and a huge barn which is big enough to house the mares and put the dummy and stocks in plus hay and straw.
There are liveries there at present and we will keep them and combine the stud with a small livery yard.

The best bit of all is it's only 10 mins from ADDINGTON

so Derek will only have to go up the road to compete. I'm so excited after months of wondering where to go I had to share it with you all.

Thanks everyone. My biggest headache is moving 10 very pregnant broodmares. Cream Bun who is due on 23 rd March looks likes she's going to run late again and as we plan to move in the middle of April is going to be a major concern! We have 3 due in May so we can't delay the move as we need to get them settled.
I think I need an Army logistics expert to co-ordinate the move

Great news! Hope it all goes well for you.

Funnily enough, a friend and I drove to Addington on Saturday to watch Kyra Kyrkland train. We had to leave so early to get there and it made a long, but brilliant day. On the way there, we said..........'wouldn't it be wonderful to live just 10 mins away from here' !!!!!!

Lucky you!

Won't it be great, I'll be able to just pop over. It takes us 4 + hours to get there now!
We also thought we would offer overnight stabling for people who would rather stay somewhere quieter over night and also if Addington stables are full.

Great news, good luck with the move and I hope all the mares comply and have their babies at appropriate times!!!

I am gutted Treliver Decanter was too far when I was looking at breeding now he is going to be up the road!! Oh well perhaps Mo can have a filly & I will start saving for the next 3yrs. Good luck with the move, he is a smart stallion.

If you are only 10 minutes from Addington, you are just down the road from me! takes me 15mins to get there

. If you need a hand with your move or are in need of any supplies or help, let me know, we run our own stud.

Thanks, I'll be on the phone to you! Any help is gratefully appreciated, especially contacts and the best place to buy things etc! Do you have a dummy? I may need to take Derek somewhere to collect for a few days whilst we have ours put in.

Nooo, I meant if you were using a dummy to collect, I presume you meant for AI purposes... she should steal some of the errrrr.... resultant "stuff" and send it for use up here with the aid of a large turkey baster

He's just such a babe!

However in reality I've decided against AI and going for natural for my mare, and want something local or I'd be posting her down to you!!!

I actually meant he would be confused if he was going to come and live with your mares! He doesn't know what a mare is, well he does but he's not allowed to!

Out of interest why do you want natural covering? I used to use Ari naturally and everyone took their life in their hands! I used to dread covering mares, its so easy now with AI.

Aaaah, get you now!!!

No AI specialists locally really, which then makes it more and more expensive...

Plus all the stud experience I have was natural coverings and the stallion I'm hoping to use ticks all the boxes I have and the owner knows where I used to work and is willing to let me be there.

Mare has never been away from me in 12 years other than my odd couple of weeks holidays and then my sister is always there.

Totally stupid and overprotective but this way I keep more control and its only half an hour away so I can still check on her while she's there.

Ours are naturally covered, stallion gets turned out with them mid April and will run with them until August. We have found he is so easy to deal with and is laid back doing it this way. He's done it this way since he was 3 so to change now would upset his routine. With visiting mares he is hand covered and the mares have special boots on so not to hurt him, but again he knows his job and is a good boy. If you need any help with suppliers etc in the area then more than happy to take you to a few and to show you around to help you get your bearings

I will pm you my mobile number, you can call me anytime. I also can give you the number of the best vets in the area they also have an onsite surgery etc. They are very good, they do all of our horses and are very straight down the line and helpful.

I feel the same and that's why I only use AI for my mares - plus I think they are more relaxed at home and so conception may be better.

It'll be great to have Derek just up the road soon - I'm getting all broody to have another foal by him (my 2 yr old by him is stunning) but I want his mum to do some competing first and Derek is just tooooo big for 2 yr old's granny (who's 13hh)

So I'll just have to go and watch Derek competing instead and get my Derek 'fix' that way for a while

yep - absolutely right - British bred is great !!!

appy stallion - that's interesting - wonder what you'll get from that breeding - colour - spots/nospots
