At risk of sounding stupid - Red tape - lorries?

can someone explain (in simple terms haha) all this red tape lorry nonsense

in other words what will I need to do, to be able to go off to shows in my 7.5 tonne lorry, with daddy driving, and my sponsors name on the back

Im hearing so many differant things, and finding the whole situ quite confusing

I did ask my dad to explain but he just swore quite a lot...called the government , monney grabbing b*****ds if I remember rightly

If you and your dad are classified as commercial users you need to have an operators licence (£600?) plus CPC Welfare of animals in transit (£80 - 150) plus tacho in use. Having your sponsor's name on the lorry is evidence of commercial use - hence my advice is that you remove your sponsors name from the lorry, and rely on the private use exemption from the above requirements . . .
 
Spot on, may not make your sponsers happy, but so much cheaper and easier for you and your dad.
 
Ditto <font color="red"> tryingmum </font> I know several people who have removed sponsor names off their vehicles..... even if it was the previous vehicle owners sponsor, just to save hassle.
