my horse was pts. Am still finding it very difficult to be at the yard, but have another horse there. Cant decide if I should move from there or stick it out and hope I feel better about things. Havent been able to go into the stable yet, and other horse looking a bit bewildered and keeps pulling me over to the empty stable.

Big hugs hun, it's a difficult time for you. Concentrate on your other horse, it needs you to look after it and it will give you something else to think about.

(Says me, who's been to the yard 4 times since my boy was pts 2 and a half months ago)

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I wouldn't rush into moving unless you'd been thinking about it anyway. Give yourself time and don't beat yourself up even if it takes a month to go in the stable. The pain will reduce and you will always be able to remember the good times.

sweetheart my thoughts are with you and i can only say as i would do- take your time and grieve cry those tears and remeber the beautiful momets you had. I would go to the yard - i face something simliaar soon - take peace with your other horse and allow him to lean on you to- you and your other horse are going through so much so look to each other to help. choose a time quiet when you can sit cry think and remember - just so want to hug you xxxx

I have found that it helps to have to go and see to the other horses. When we lost our first horse, it was 2 yrs before we got another but since then we have always had multiple horses, so you just have to get on with it, as they need looking after too.
Don't worry about going into the stable, it's not really necessary atm. I'm sure if you would like them to, someone else will clear it out for you but actually in a while you might want to do it yourself.
Just take your time, look after yourself and your horse and remember the good times.

It's 3 years since I lost mine, today I was looking at old pics of another horse on our yard and saw my girl in the background, in her stable, with me just visible putting on a rug or something, and I just started crying!

As everyone else says, there's no time limit on how long it takes to get over losing them, sometimes you never do, but there comes a stage when you laugh at the thought of something he used to do rather than cry over it. Big hugs to you xx
