At what age do we stop bouncing & start to break?

how tall are you thinking AA, i have a 17hh, a 16hh and a 15hh just to cover all the options, :D

My theory is the bigger the better, if they eject you upwards you have half an hour in the air to get the best padded bit in line to the ground. It's academic for me because I am well padded top to toe !

Those little wizzy ones fire you off at warp factor 20, I will stick to my 17h plus boys, they go a bit slower and send a postcard before pressing the ejector button.

I'm 41 and have only fallen off once in the last 7 years but I'm getting more nervous because I think my luck can't hold out much longer and the ground looks like concrete

And now I've said that I'm bound to fall off!

I haven't broken anything, but definitely don't bounce anymore. The last time I came off was in the indoor school where I was on livery at the time about 3 years ago at the age of 35. It was the first time I realised that there really wasn't enough sand on the concrete base as I landed on my knees - definitely no bounce. All the horse did was drop his shoulder a bit! A couple of weeks later I came off on the gallops when the same horse spooked at the fact that there was a clump of grass where it shouldn't have been and I landed like a sack 5h!t in the sand - still no bounce - definitely more like lead. So for me it was mid 30s.

fear not good folks, I have the answer and cannot believe it is so simple - why do we wear jods / breeches when what we should really be wearing is this ...

Not necessarily miss bean. I can stick when needed but have falls doing ridiculously stupid things. About 6 weeks ago I was riding mine up from the far end of the field bareback in headcollar & lr. As I got on I noticed some fraying on the bottom of my chaps. So as you do when its your own very sensible pony I leaned down to investigate while cantering up. Unfortunately, what turned out to be the farm cat shot right in front & she stopped dead. Seen as I was dangling anyway I hit the deck. Apart from a very amused friend & some mud I was fine, so still bouncing. But from on here I better make the most of it while I can!

Well I was 52 before I broke and that was slipping on the ground (only vaguely horse-related) to break my ankle. Then I confirmed my breakability when I landed on my head aged 55 - that caused all sorts of whiplash type problems for months.
And yet I remember being bucked off spectacularly in a side-saddle lesson in my late 30s and getting up and walking away with just a few bruises!
