At what age/stage should one supplement for joints?

Have a four year old Dutch Warmblood (big girl, long legs), and would like to do all I can to help get and keep her in good condition.

Well unless there is a problem, technically feeding specific joint products would be a waste of money

That said I feed sunflower seeds and linseed, which would cover joints (although I feed to make them shiney)

The other thing is, as my vet said, if you've got a big horse you are better off keeping off the road. So when hacking stick to verges and stay in the school when its hard. This is probably the best preventative measure you can do!

No school, other than a riding paddock so have to hack on roads (no verges, but big ditches!), but do get to tracks fairly quickly.

I'll look into the sunflowe and linseed oils
