Being the only adult on a hack with children in tow?

Kids are aged 8, 11 and 14 (not horsey but very sensible) and either bring bikes/scooters or just walk the dogs, currently very limited as to when we can go out as I have to wait until I can rope a second adult in. Pony is a saint and the dogs could stay home but there's so many 'what ifs' that I can't ever imagine being able to do it without adult back up. I'm confident nothing untoward would happen but you just don't know do you?

What do you lot reckon?

The last time I went hacking with a sensible, pre teen on a bike, they somehow fell off right in front of me. We happened to be hacking past a graveyard at the time and so of course my mare teleported up the steep bank into the graveyard.

Fun times (if slightly embarrassing)! :D

Similar situation as above !! Many years ago, son's 5th birthday, he was given his first bike. So out we went, three girls about 7,8 and 9 yrs old, 5 year old son and a lovely family pony for the girls to share. I am the only adult. On the way home son zooms over a small hump backed bridge in the New Forest, skids on a cow pat and knocks himself out!! You just never know what can happen.

Are these your own kids? I'll happily take my 4,7 and 8 year olds out with one pony between them. Lead rein kids pony that is, so I'm on the ground but basically responsible for pony (even the bigger kids who don't officially have the lead rein clipped on still have zero actual control over the pony!) And I'm pretty nervous and worst case scenario-y about most things.

If you were willing/able to hop off if necessary then I'd say you'd be absolutely fine if they're you're own kids (but I wouldn't want to be responsible for anyone else's kids in this situation though!)
