Looking for good news stories for treating ataxia? My TB has just been diagnosed with arthritis in the neck and last week he became ataxic. In and out of equine hospital and about to return for steroid injection with ultrasound. Desperately trying to stay positive for my soul mate and need some positivity. Have heard acupuncture is a good treatment option?

Really sorry to hear of this. Sadly, mine didn't have a great outcome. I had 5 years of happiness with my boy before the compression affected him as much as I would like for him to experience, and I had him PTS (think he was a grade 2 at that point).

Sorry, my experience of C3/4 misalignment and C4 narrowing causing ataxia was that the horse had to pts at 10. I hope you have a better outcome.

I have a 9yr old ISH, he developed arthritis in c6/c7 from an earlier injury. He underwent surgery at Rainbow Equine last year, only a candidate as we caught it early. After a year’s physio he’s now sound and about to be put back under the saddle for a further period of physio. The surgery is not for the faint-hearted and the following physio is just as important as the surgery itself, but I’m pleased we opted for surgery. I’m afraid there aren’t many good news stories on this forum for this issue -I think the surgery is still very rare.
