Attaching dog tags to collars...

You could get a cheap pyrography pen and burn the info onto the leather collars..I would put name outside and tel number inside the collar.

Can anyone recommend anything that's going to last? We're losing tags on split runs e at a rate of knotts at the moment ?

I don't know what your dog is doing to lose its tag from a split ring...

You can get really strong, small split rings from a fishing tackle shop; N° 10 split rings for sea fishing are about 10mm in outside diameter and will hold up to 200kg.

If that still doesn't work, you could get a brass plaque engraved and rivet it to the collar.

Somebody who finds a dog might not think to look inside the collar, or even worse might take off the collar to find the number and lose the dog again...

I like the Silicone slide on tags in the link satinbaze posted

Good point Keith..you could write tel no inside on the collar..just don’t think it’s a good idea to have all info outside for Public display..maybe write tel no inside collar, with name outside.
i also like the Engraved brass plate suggestions...But theywill cost more .

Another vote for Indigo tags, I've never had to replace one, they last forever and I think they look really smart too.

I got some with the phone no and postcode woven into the webbing, they were off fleabay, I think they came from china

Please remember that the law requires owners surname and address on the tag. There is no legal requirement for a telephone number but obviously it makes it much easer to reunite a lost dog. Post code only is insufficient information for the dog to be returned and also would fail the KC Good Citizen scheme.

Agree.

Having rounded up various lost dogs in the past and reunited them with their owners, the least I expect is that the dog has its full address and details inc phone no on the tag.

I have holiday tags that I pop on as additional ones when we go away, has both our numbers on and car registration number.
When showing yrs ago, all the dogs had horsebox reg number on one side. Only once was one used, when a muppet left the side for open and the gsd came to look for us. A quick tannoy call out returned her v quickly.

I need something that can be attached to a harness as dog cannot wear collar due operation on neck. Would have to be a dangly one I think but need one where it remains legible for a long time

Depending on your harness my details are sewn into my canicross harness.
