Has anyone else been hit by this epidemic of giant mutant killer* burrs?

Our horses like to pretend to be unicorns...

Or give themselves new hairdos...

And then yesterday, my friend's horse came in with the best look ever...

Thank the good lord for mane and tail conditioner.

This is how many he had:

And just to top it off, when I was getting into the shower last night, I found one in my own hair

*They may not actually be fatal...

Burrs and shetlands do not go well together! I had to clip my shetlands lower legs cause the burrs were trailing. Thing is I don't even know where they are coming from, I have none in my field that I know of! :'(

So glad my friend put mane and tail conditioner on last time he came in like that or I'd still be there now, they're so spiky, they're a nightmare to get out otherwise!

Your horses are amateurs. Here is what professionals can achieve with burrs (on a daily basis since August):

Excellent !!!

last week, The Boy had about thirty of the damned things in his tail and feathers - and they take AGES to get out. Like sticky glue !

yes, evil stuff, most of mine and myself have been that bad, tails, legs, bodies, rugs - the lot. I took time to gently remove but my partner just hogged his horse.

Am not looking forward to Friday when ours come in from the two weeks off they had , they have been in all the hedges and are covered in burs in forelock and tails!!!! I did slap lots of conditioner in so not as bad as it may have been..
