In North Essex of traditional coloured mare in the middle of the night on saturday. Mare now very shaken and hard to catch they by passed other horses & ponies in their paddocks and left her electric fencing gateway on the floor.

Are you sure it was attempted theft and not that the mare crashed through the gateway herself? This happened the other night to my horses. I found them grazing in the next paddock and their gateway on the floor. It would also explain her reluctance to be caught and nervousness if she got a zap from the gate. Or were the theives seen?
