I'm moving to a new yard and due to limited muck heap space the owner asks we use Auboise bedding or something similar so it rotts down quickly. Any suggestions? My boy is a messy beggar so the cheaper the better!
Thanks

:-)

I use Hemcore - also hemp-based - and I really like it. Good for wet ones, not so brilliant for messy ones or horses that dig as it really needs to be deep littered and you get a thin top layer of clean and dry then a compacted layer that you don't want to make it to the surface (well I do, anyway).

I've also used Megasorb which is paper-based and would probably be better for mucky horses. It's really, really absorbent though, and I would be worried about hooves getting too dry if the horse was in for long periods.

Hope that makes sense/helps.

We use countrywide's bedding if you order in bulk we had it for around £4 a bale, its really quick and easy to muck out and super absorbant like auibose too!

I'm looking to change from straw as HATE it, what is countrywides bedding made from and how much do you order at a time to get it for £4 a bale? Cheapest bedding ive found delivered is £5ish a bale and thats having 105 at a time so yours sounds good :D

I love Auboise, but it is very expensive, so I buy Hemcore, which is the british version. I buy mine from Thorogoods, who sell another hempi bedding which is a really finely chopped product called Edellin which is chopped flax, it is quite cheap, I tend to mix it with the Hemcore, it makes a good bed and it is economical to use. Super absorbant. http://www.thorogoods.co.uk/shop/bedding they deliver.
