If you buy a horse from an auction (in my case clitheroe is the closest) Do you pay extra ontop of what you bid for the horse?

Some one has just told me if you buy a horse for 300 (through the ring) you will end up paying 350 + for indemnity (sp) ?

Any one please?

No idea about Clitheroe, but at Llanybydder they sell in guineas, & what you bid is what you pay....so they get to keep 5p in every pound (ie if you buy something for 10gn you pay £10.50 for it & they keep the 50p).

Not bought a horse from Clitheroe but they do charge a buyers premium in the tack auction.

If you do go you have to register as a buyer before the auction starts and you get a number, that cost about £5 whether you buy anything or not.

I've bought from clitheroe and never paid extra. Or not that I'm aware of.

When are you going? Tomorrow? :) I'm going in November!

Will you PM me and let me know if there's a lot of horses/what was for sale?

Good luck :)

What time of day does it start and finish please? Is it in Clitheroe itself or just nearby? I might go too....

Although I'd better not take any money.
