auto water drinkers

Have got 15 on our yard but the last lot of jfc micro drinkers i put in (5 of them)
are playing up like hell in the cold weather.Nearly everytime they thaw out one of the little float unit inside goes meaning they won't stop filling. Keep replacing the float valve unit but at £10 a shot its costing me no end.

anyone got any other makes in that fair better as may take these out? i know they all freeze, i dont mind putting buckets in but its the hastle each thaw.(even when all ice etc has been removed prior to thaw)

We've had the same problem, though not sure what make mine are. The only thing I can suggest is monitoring the forecast and as soon as you see very cold weather forecast, turning your water off. You'll then need to empty each waterer, so that you remove any water which can expand and split the plastic.

we have the metal ones, will try and find out the brand tomorrow and we havent had problems and they have been fitted 10 years in april.
