So, one of my ponies has decided his automatic drinker makes an excellent toilet. What was once a regular occurance is now a daily occurance, and I'm getting a little tired of having to empty, clean and re-fill it EVERY day, as it somewhat defeats the purpose of having automatic drinkers...

I've tried leaving him a bucket of water, but you guessed it, that makes a fab loo also. I've watched him line himself up with the automatic drinker and aim into it, so this is no accident. I also left with him his empty feed bucket for all of 15 minutes a few days ago, and when I got back he was in the process of lining himself up with it to fill it with wee... foul pony!

Not really asking for advice here as I'm not sure that there is any to be given, but I thought I'd share in the hope of amusing anyone who's had a bad day

What an annoying habit!

Perhaps you could strategically place trug tubs in his stable and teach him to wee and poo in those, would save time and money in mucking out and bedding!

Sorry, no, it's poo in the drinker, although I'm sure it'd be both if he could reach!

This is the sh***iest pony I've ever owned, he does twice as much as my TB who is almost two hands taller than him and gets 3 times more feed. He also does it in his bankings, then sleeps with his face in it (for warmth, I assume).

Might leave him a muck tub one night and see what happens...

lol @ the stablemaid thing :L i used to work at a yard that had automatic drinkers and quite a few of the horses crapped in them on a daily basis always the same 1s it was quite annoying but funny 2 x
