I am loving the cooler weather and autumn is my very favourite season, so I'm pretty happy! Slightly less happy about the amount of acorns on the trees, but perhaps it will be a cold winter. The little welshies in my field are very woolly already. My horse has been shedding for a month or so, and I am probably going to clip him in the next couple of weeks to keep him cool. Also I really enjoy clipping so that's another plus. :)

Mine has been shedding her coat for a while now in earnest.

Countryside looks more like it would normally coming up to Opening Meet time; yes it is picturesque, but trees are soon going to be bare and twiggy and we will have a long long time of them being without their leaves.

Feels like it could be a long winter............

Seems different here but I'm in Ireland and have always noticed the leaves on the turn in August due to the daylight hours shortening. Irish autumn traditionally starts on August 1st.

I love all the weather lore you get from experienced gardeners and old country people.

Loads of fallen leaves , changing colours, noticed on the way down to the village this afternoon. Tobiano mare has been shedding white hair for a while, bay mare still dappled but little bit fuzzier. Will we be getting the autumn flush of grass now that it has rained?

We've suddenly gone very autumnal. Ponies have been losing their winter coats for a good few weeks and this last week have noticed the leaves falling, we've certainly no drought up here!

Still green trees here despite the drought. We've had a few showers and the grass is picking up too.
Aren't we supposed to have a warm September?
