Unbelievably having been around horses for the last 20+ year I have never had a horse who has actually tied up.
Av is usually out 24/7 but due to her looking less like an ex racer and more like a whale she has been coming in for a few hours in the day with hay. I have been away for the weekend so she went out all day yesterday and was last ridden Friday eve.
Took her into the school to lunge tonight and she was on great form for about 20 mins. I did give her a loose warm up but she was being a prat to be fair. She then almost looked lame/ stiff behind and I couldnt work out if I was being OCD or not. My friend came and had a look and by then she was mega stiff behind, so we put her into her stable with a rub on and called the vet.
He said that he would come and sedate her if she was panicing, but she was actually quite calm- just looked confused. He said to give her some bute and see what she looked like in the morning. I gave her some dalion, left her to calm down for an hour and went back. She was much happier and eating, not sweating but she was very reluctant to move one of her hind legs.
She is fully weight bearing but doesnt want to move it. I am so unbelievably worried- any tying up info would be gratefully recieved
