So, after my thread on Friday. I’ll fully admit to being emotional and having had a few glasses of wine ?
We have decided that Miar isn’t the best name because we have a friends daughter, whilst no spelt the same but called Miah and pronounced the same that we won’t use that name.

So meet Ava. Ava is about 4.5 months old. She is obviously a black and white gorgeous little kitten.
My OH is a farm manager and rarely drives a tractor these days but has been on one the past few weeks and noticed a kitten in the middle of no where for several days running so set a trap.
He caught this kitten on Friday. I’ve advertised her on fb and various other places, informed local cat rescues and vets and nothing so far.
I’ve got her in a dog crate in the sitting room so she gets used to our noise and smell etc.
Our dogs are used to cats (the infamous Arlo!) but Arlo and the dogs wrestle and chase each other. He comes dog walking and cleans their faces at night! They also chase him and he chases them so I never thought we could get another cat or kitten.
Anyway I figured a big cage would give her a safe space to gat to know us.
Have been to the vets, she’s not chipped. They agree not feral just very nervous.
Oddly she seems to quite like Cecil my terrier. Cecil is a thug, but is slightly nervous of her ? he is allowed to go in her cage and have a nose bump! She than swats him ?
So, I may have a new cat. (I really hope no one has come forward so far) I’ve tamed worse so am super hopeful 3AE371CA-C867-4FE2-BB07-C18CD7800939.jpeg3AE371CA-C867-4FE2-BB07-C18CD7800939.jpeg

I lost a black and white cat last year, the first cat I ever took too. She was the reason I bought Arlo.
She lived outside and took years to get her to trust me but she was really wild.
She somehow managed to get home and lie under my wheelbarrow after being hit badly by a car. There was nothing that could be done for her but the fact she came back to me was unreal :( it broke my heart, more so than pets I’ve lost.
People have since tagged me in black and white kittens for sale and I’ve said no, I really feel like Ava has found me ?‍♀️?

When I say allowed I mean by her not that I just let him in!

When I first got my dog I gradually introduced my cats and him to each other using child gates and safe spaces and places. At night and sometimes during the day the dog was crated. After a couple of weeks I got up in the morning and wondered where my cat was as usually on my bed. Went downstairs and let the dog out of the crate and out came the cat as well. I’d somehow accidentally shut them in together! ?, Fortunately both survived unscathed.

Oh god, that reminds me of a time that I was first left in charge and f my daughters puppy who slept in a crate covered with a blanket. He hesitated one night about going in so I doofed his bum and shut the door. In the morning I pulled back the blanket to see him one side and Arlo cat the other. Both unscathed but unimpressed ??

OH came home thought with some tiny tins of food that smell and look like I could
Serve them up as starters with toast! She has spent the past hour licking it off my fingers purring. We got as far as the cage door then she backed off but for day one I’m really pleased!

If she can be friends with a terrier she'll be absolutely fine with the whole pack eventually. She's gorgeous, do keep us updated on how she's getting on.

ETA I don't know if this is anyone else's experience, but I've always found that terriers utterly adore their "own" cats, perhaps even more than other breeds, even though they'd be the first to chase a strange cat.

Many years ago when we were still farming, we were on our way to the vet with my cat and just walking across our yard when we found a really tiny dark tortoiseshell kitten. Very friendly and self possessed little soul. She came along to the vet with us as we hadn't got time to deal with her. We had absolutely no idea where she had come from as the nearest farm was back down the road and down a drive and she was too young to have come that far on her own. We couldn't keep her as we already had 5 and the youngest was still not much more than a kitten. We had a friend in the next village who was involved with Cats Protection so she took her and rehomed her very easily. I still think of her though and wish I could have kept her. I hope Ava gets to stay with you, seem pre-ordained.
