Average Income of horsey families

Our combined income is £66k but we can only afford one horse on DIY at the moment as I've gone down to 4 days a week and we also have childcare costs and a large mortgage. We've worked out we would need £70k plus to have another horse

I'm a PC mum,but not the pushy kind. Our joint income is around £60k,but I pay for all the pony related stuff out of my income, which is about £6k. We have one pony whom we own, bought for £950 when she was 21,she is 25 now,and loan another, who is the same age,but has Cushings,so is on Prascend. I keep them on my dad's farm and work there whenever I'm needed in exchange for my livery. I worked 14 weeks without single day off recently, so definitely don't take advantage of my situation. We do about 4 shows a year and 1 PC rally a month plus camp. My trailer is 25 years old and does the job,and I skimp on stuff for myself so that the girls can have lessons ect.

Agree it comes down to priorities rather than just income. We have 3 horses but our cars are more than 10 years old and we don't do expensive holidays now.
