avert...canter looks a bit odd ?

IMO it looks like a horse that has been ridden a lot in draw. It looks to me like it has the power in the back end but is used to having its head pulled in and thus makes that shape like a ball being bounced downhill (if that makes sense?). Also doesnt stretch out and use himself over the jumps as if he has been jumped a lot in draw reins?

Just seen the video again with a decent computer screen...

Its not a pretty sight.
Even if it is just a case of being over ridden/ badly ridden in draw reins ( oh, the joys of people worrying about the head, and not the butt ), I wouldn't be worrying about looking at it Im afraid.

Kx

It just looks incredibly downhill to me but active behind so its throwing the rider fowards and theres nothing in front of her :p! Bet sitting to that canter is like riding a rocking horse on a downhill slope..... ;)

i have to agree looks down hill and also he seems to do very subtle bucks which make it look odd he manages the changes ok though

Haven't read all the replies but my immediate thought is why is he so cheap?
I thought his trot looked odd but also he didn't look as if he was going forward properly. The canter was even stranger and the jump and landing really peculiar. If you are serious about looking I would be getting a very thorough vetting and query the cheap price. Having said that I often don't like showjumpers movement:eek: so am probably way off target here:rolleyes:

The poor horse looks very uncomfortable over its back and it its hindleg. The outline its ridden in clearly isn't natural and I agree with avthechav that it's been incorrectly ridden in draw reins. If there is no physical problem then I'm sure that it could be sorted with lots of hillwork and being ridden forwards but having dealt with that kind of canter before, I can tell you it's a very long process. If you have the time and are sure that there is no physical problem then he is definitely worth a view as you could have a gorgeous horse. However, I think he is also in pain and that is a completely separate and more serious issue.

personally it looks like it is coming high in the pelvis to avoid flexing through the hocks through both hind legs but especially the offhind. If you watch the trot it is as if he is picking up a hind leg and swinging through with the entire leg rather than bending the hock and stepping through.

It is very hard to tell from a video though and if there was anything there any half decent independant vet would pick it up straight away but I personally wouldn't be going to see it full stop.

it all looks very odd even to my untrained eye, looks like the back end belongs to a completely different horse
the rider doesnt seem to be able to sit to the canter at all.
might be worth a visit it your close but he does look pretty uncomfortable

Oh my days! i'v never seen anything like that, it actually made me feel very uncomfortable to watch it. IMO i'd say that horse is in pain i felt a lot of pity towards him whilst watching that :( agree with others in that his trot looks very weird to :s poor chap..
