As pointed out already, some of these internet tack shops are run as a sideline by sole traders. It is a sad fact of today's economy that a proportion of them will be struggling to make a profit. One outcome of this is if they cannot pay their bills on time with their suppliers they will have to pay direct for any stock as they order it (i.e. they no longer have a credit line with their suppliers). This means that their customers will have to pay them first before their goods are ordered from the supplier (hope you are still with me at this point).
This issue is not limited to small companies, ultimately it is what resulted in Woolworths disappearing from our High Streets.
The old saying "buyer beware" always applies.
There are some great traders out there (I've personally had good experience online with Harrogate Horse) who deserve our support, particularly in this terrible year when countless events have been cancelled due to the weather.
