For those of you that use this product to help ease sweet itch / prevent the midges that cause sweet itch, please tell me: Do you a) use the spray on repellent formula b) use the body lotion c) mix either of the two aforementioned products with anything else i.e. Benzyl d) Apply it solely to the affected area / surrounding area or all over to prevent rather than cure? Thanks in advance for your answers. A little tip in return – marmite sandwich for breakfast (horse not owner!), just learnt this and testing it now!

I used to use it when I made up my fly spray, I just added about half a bottle into the mixture. I ran out and had problems getting some more and I didn't notice any difference in its effectivness so I've stopped using it now.

Use it diluted as a fly spray-seems to do the trick, though abit greasy on dark horses-ideal for greys as doesn't show on coat.
Old hunt groom I used to work with swore by it.

I presume you are refering to the dry oil mist in Woodland Fresh?

Have used the dry oil mist as a fly repellent before - didn't know it was any good for sweet itch?

I use the skin so soft and fresh bath oil - 500 ml as an essential part of my fly spray receipe to keep midges at bay. The oil really does make a difference in this.

I get it when it is on offer from Avon and stock up.

I have also found feeding instant linseed and brewers yeast to have made a big difference on the boys rubbing their tails and being generally itchy.

I've used the woodland fresh dry oil spray on my cob with sweet itch. Just sprayed it liberally on mane and tail. Found it brilliant, particularly as it seems to las all day.

I used it myself, love the smell! So the other year read it was good for midges and put it my boys mane and tail. It was the really hot summer and the dry oil spray burnt him. Never give it a thought but afterall its oil based, felt awful. This year Ive mixed it half and half with water and just put it on his belly and sheath area but have noticed its all gone gooey and now wont spray. Any ideas?
