Does this really work as a fly repellant? Our little lad is being pestered by the flies badly now. he's still hanging onto his winter coat in parts and it's those parts which seem to attract the flies. I'm in two minds about clipping him as he's about to go on 'holiday' with a herd of youngsters so using a fly sheet isnt viable.

Hello, Yes it works, people on my yard are skin so soft mad lol!

Its on special offer at the min too, two for one

Been told by a lot of people that its great and works well, but i haven't personally used it as its oily and worry about it attracting the sun and possibly burning..

I add half a bottle to my home made fly spray, seems to help. I wouldn't use it neat though as its oil based and I'd be worried about frying them!!

I did fry my horse

It was afew years ago and I stupidly put it on neat along his mane line, he stopped itching but got all scurfy and I realised why. Oil and sun dont mix.
I have made up Teresas recipe on here but havent used it yet. Was going to try it again tomorrow but am really wary.

I've used it with success on my sweetitch-prone youngster, diluted 1:2 with water, and also mixed as in Teresa's recipe as a general fly repellent.

As it's the oiliness that midges don't like it's hard to see how they could become immune to it. Both OH and I use it when we're gardening and it works well but you do have to get used to the very heavy scent!
