Which actual product is it that is good used as fly spray and does it need to be diluted? If so by how much? Thanks

the bath oil!! i used to mix it with vinegar n citronella etc! but the smell was awful so now i just put it in his tail and it stops him itching too :) if u google home made fly spray recipes with skin so soft ul get alsorts :) x

I dilute mine with baby oil/pig oil to make it go farther.
I have the one in the pale green bottle.

Its now called Soft & Fresh, none of the other Skin so Softs work. And yes its the one with the green writing

Thank you thought that was the one but wasn't sure. Just to let anyone who is interested know - Avon have a 3 for £5 offer on it at the mo.

it is the soft and fresh one, the dry oil spray is what i put into my fly spray, i put a couple of teaspoons (the lid screws off for pouring) into 500ml of cider vinegar and spray on,
dont let it get too cold or it solidifies in the bottle (im an avon lady and get loads of returns because they have left it by the widow on a night and its got too cold and gone hard)
they also do a body wash which is great for summer baths, and a moisturising cream, which is none greasy, i use it as a detangler on my welshies tail works a treat and keeps the flies off too

The soft and fresh dry oil spray is what I use, diluted with equal water and white vinegar. I bought 10 bottles a fortnight ago as it was half price! Use it neat on myself also.
EDIT- I also add a cap of dettol!!

So as long as it's soft and fresh however it comes (spray/bath) it's good to use?

I use the dry oil body spray, soft and fresh.

I pour the whole bottle into 750ml fly spray bottle, Add 1 tsp each of lavender, citroenlla, cedarwood, lavender and tea tree. 3 caps of dettol, top up with water. Give a good shake before using.

Yeah it's got to be the soft and fresh fragrance but both the bath oil and dry oil work! I get the dry oil now as I spray it on myself as I don't fancy smearing the bath oil all over me!!

Is it safe to use neat on the horses?

well ive never had a problem, why would it not be:confused:. I figure if its safe to spray all over myself then its safe for them, its only a human moisturiser afterall, infact i prefer spraying them with that that something potent like coopers that we have to wear protective gloves to administer.

I was just thinking if they were to swollow any when scratching an itch or grooming etc but i doubt they'd swollow much at all to have any effect. Maybe i'm thinking into it too much, i have a habit of that.

This is probably anomalous but my mare was allergic to SkinSoSoft, and has never been allergic to anything else so she's not prone to sensitive skin or anything - just keep an eye out (it was awful - i thought the lumps she was getting were from fly bites and so I just kept putting more skinsosoft on for a few days - i felt terrible when I realised she'd had four days of worse and worse uncomfortableness :-(!!!).

Oh poor thing! Don't feel bad, you were only doing what you thought was best. I think i'll do a patch test first and see what happens. Thanks.

My 4 bottles went solid over night :-( Anyone know if it's possible to rescue?!

Typically read the don't leave it in the cold after i'd already done so!
