Dont use it neat, I did a few years ago along my horses mane line and he got burnt, poor boy I felt awful as it is oil based and with the sun, I had pretty much fried him

I use avon skin so soft and have had no problems. It's the only thing i can use on my horse as she allergic to most of stuff. I did hear that pig oil used for mud rash prevention can cause the skin to burn. As i said i've had no problems with it and it really works as the midges/cleggs/insects can drip the skin becasue of the oil. I suppose it would also depend on sigb pigment.

There are loads of products available about sweat itch, i recently attended a talk about it, i'll try find the fact sheets.

although garlic is supposed to help repel flies once it gets in the horses system,i think it is not good for sweetitch, this is because garlic boosts the immune system but sweetitch is caused by having an over-active immune system.
