Sorry its not really competition but you guys have been really helpful before.

I'm looking at buying a lorry and the one thats caught my eye is a AWD non-hvg lorry. Now because I'm having to persuade my dad that its a good deal, I need to do some research on AWD lorries as we've not really heard of that make before. So, I was hoping that people could tell me of their experiences with this make.

Thanks in advance

Its a bedford TL good in there day but parts are not so easy and they are old fashioned to drive compared with modern lorrys but if the price is right and its tidy it might work for you,
howerver I would look for a leyland daf 45 if you are on a budget...

I'm Fuzz's sister; it'll be our lorry :)

The problem isn't necessarily budget - there are enough in our price range. It's more location. This is the first in ages that has been local, and we don't have the option to travel far at the moment.

I had an AWD - they are the last Bedfords (circa late 80s, early 90s).

I loved it - super reliable, smooth ride and minimal electrics - so less to go wrong.

Parts are easy enough to get if you know where to go.

Beware of rust. If the cab (especially floor sills) or chasis are rusty then don't bother.

If it's a reputable sale then I'd go for it - but then I am irrationaly fond of Bedfords;)

I've got a AWD for sale and it's been an amazing little lorry! I show jump every weekend travelling to Wales and Yorkshire in the height of winter and has done us well.

I had a Bedford I loved, only sold because needed to carry 3 and she was too heavy. People on our yard have a D reg so would be last of Bedfords, think became AWD at E reg, and it's in absolutely mint condition.
I never had much trouble getting parts. Biggest bugbear was speed, she was very slow uphill!
