Awful English in Adverts?

Does it make you think twice about viewing the horse? I'm not looking to buy yet, but occasionally browse. I saw an ad which said "gud 2 catch" (among other things) and it really put me off.

I know what you mean! I feel that the younger generation these day's communicate in "text slang"! It's just plain lazy! I would be embarrassed if my advert read like that

I must admit that i hate it, my mother tries to text me in it she puts wat instead of what!!! Arrrgh!!! Although some adverts charge per letter dont they??? So maybe trying to cut down the amount of letters used???

It completely puts me off I must confess. I make assumptions about the vendors which are probably inaccurate and unfounded.

I saw an advert once that said the horse had plenty of "presents". Ooh Birthday or Christmas do you think?!!

Not noticed it so much in adverts but a Facebook group for one of the big Irish Studs has terrible grammar/spelling. I don't think it's an official page as such - if it is they really need someone to check it before things are posted.

Yes. Surely it’s of the utmost importance to write a well written advert, and when I see poorly written ones, I know I shouldn’t say this, but it leads me to assume the person who wrote it may possibly be of p***y origin. I tend to ignore badly written adverts, that are grammatically incorrect and with poor spelling, purely for that reason.

I try to 'look past' bad spelling and grammar, and bad photos too. The horse hasn't written the advert and it can be a good way to source a bargain.

Glad it's not just me! I like short and sweet sentences, such as "Good to catch. Hacks alone" but I just can't stand when there's a total disregard for the English language!

Once saw an ad for a 'nice fillet' for sale (should have read filly), so we sent an email asking if they thought the fillet would be best with bbq or tomato sauce....luckily the sellers had a laugh about it too (we didn't buy the fillet though)

The first time I saw that horse, I thought he was gorgeous...now his eyes feel like they're boring into my soul!!

I hate it, when selling mine I just gave short replies to text speak e mails, but much longer ones to people(I assumed) could read them.
My personal gripe is in dog/cat adverts that say, 'Has been spade' Did someone hit it with a shovel or was it neutered with a blunt instrument?!

At the risk of returning the thread to its' original purpose, I also can't stand bad spelling or grammar.

My personal "favourites" are "alot" and "carnt".
