A horse on the same yard as me and Bossanova was found in the field this evening non-weight bearing on a hind leg. The vet came as soon as possible but she had fractured the leg beyond repair. She was put down immediately. The owner is devastated. Five minutes earlier I walked my horse past the field and saw her grazing happily.

Hug your horses tonight. They are so precious and delicate.

RIP Bonnie.

I know how you feel!

My youngster dropped down dead of an anurism only last week. That came totaly out of the blue.

However, take comfort from the fact that it was quick, the horse was not standing in agony for hours. The horse went out in the peak of health, didn't wither away over weeks/months/years... like some do. As far as the owner goes, she/he didn't have to make the decision.

One thing this sort of thing teaches us is to live for the moment.
*hugs to you and the owner*

Made my blood run cold. Really makes you stop and think.

She was a lovely, lovely horse who earlier today was being a right tart with Moon and generally enjoying her life. So sad.

How awful.

Hugs for everyone involved.

We were only talking about a similar situation today. Some time ago a horse on our yard was found, grazing happily, but non-weight bearing on a leg. Again it was a serious fracture and he was pts.

Shivers go down my spine when I hear things like this, as it could happe to all of us ... I always tell my boys I love them and this makes me know why

Oh how awful!

Similar thing happened to a friend years ago, her horse was found dead in the field - possibly from colic overnight. Then 6 weeks later her new pony had to be pts because it broke it's leg in the field. We never found out how he broke his leg.

Hugs to the owner and RIP Bonnie

Poor horse, poor owner.
Similar thing happened to my horse, thankfully his fracture was treatable and mended, thanks to my wonderful vet.

How sad, I too have been in this situation and agree Hug your horses tonight, as you really do never know what is round the corner.
