Awful Weather WWYD?

If I read correctly, I may be only the second reply who's horses are still out 24/7 ?

I am a mean horse owner....:(

Nope, two TBs and and ISH all out 24/7, choosing to ignore the shelter and stand in the middle of the field eating, while being lashed with rain and gales :)

And they're not standing at the gate when I arrive with their dinners either :D

You get what you expect... if you expect that horses are delicate flowers who need to be wrapped in pretty coloured rugs and stood in cosy beds, warm as toast, that's what you get.

If you expect that horses are designed to live outside, in a social group, move around as they wish, and graze 18 hours a day, knowing how to deal with different kinds of weather, that's what you get ;)

Mine are out 24/7 but have access to stables for shelter. They are still spending a lot of time grazing out in the driving rain though. I put their hay at the stables so they get some shelter when eating that though.

Central Scotland is wet but seems to be the best off in the UK.

Mine are out 24/7 as I don't have stables. They're perfectly happy but the ground just squelches as you walk and low lying bits are under water. Yuk.

My car park is under water once again, over my wellies. Last night the water made it into Genie's stable a little bit. I have one 1/2 acre paddock I have yet to graze, and they are currently on the other top paddock which has done brilliantly considering the weather. The girls have swapped round to being in during the day (Titchy in the stable, Genie with the yard to walk around in as well) and out at night. Floods had gone down a bit today, but with more rain tonight and tomorrow I expect to be completely flooded. Need to start shifting hay so I hopefully don't lose any, or lose as little as possible.

Sadly I know of others who are worse off than me!
