My sharer paid monthly in advance, in Monday she told me she no longer wants to share. I can happily give her back two weeks money no issue. As she chose to stop rather than me asking her to stop this is the right thing to do yes?
Did she ask for the money back?
It would be a kind gesture if you like her and she’s not left you in the sh** but I don’t think you have to by any means.
No she hasn't asked for it back, but yes she's left me stuck a bit. I work 6.30pm till 2am four nights a week and have just bought my 28 year out of retirement as he's being an idiot and refusing to stay in the field for longer than 20 minutes so I now have two to ride and do on DIY, plus walk my dogs and gets some sleep
Do you have a contract? With my old horse I had a sharer and I think they had to give a month’s notice (which they did).
if no contract, do they want to stop immediately? Ideally they should give you some notice. Unless they ask for the money I’d assume they are expecting to pay.
I suggest you just give her the 2 weeks’ money back and move on. It’s not worth causing conflict or bad feeling, that way everyone stays happy. Hope you find a new sharer soon (assuming that’s what you want).
She isn't asking for the money back and she's left you in the lurch with no notice. I'm struggling to see why you should voluntarily pay it back, use it instead to by yourself some temporary groom cover, maybe.
.
I've had a similar situation before, but I had a contract in place, they cancelled mid month and didn't do the rest of the month (in contract said a month's notice) so I kept the money and put it towards someone temporarily helping me out while I found another sharer, they didn't ask for the money back either
If I were the sharer in this situation I wouldn't expect to receive any money back, it would have been my choice to end the contract knowing I had two weeks to go
