He got out the car this morning, walked over to my friends lorry and cocked his leg!! Bless him, 1st time he's done it properly and deliberately! He's nearly 7 months.

Quick question. Last few days he keeps on picking up sticks and running of with them, and sometimes chewing them! Really trying to discourage it. I call him back to me and remove it usually (then try and hide it so he doesn't just pick it up again) or start playing a game or something. But it is difficult to do all the time. Is there anything more I can do? Give him more chews at home or something? He does usually get at least 1 a day as it is....

Take something like a ball or a dummy on a bit of a line, out with you instead and work on his natural instinct to retrieve. Don't chase after him when he has a stick, it will just be a big game.
If he isn't interested in these in the beginning, make him be.
Hide them behind your back, put them in a drawer at home and make a fuss - wow, what was that?? You didn't want it, too bad. Oh, here it is again, you want it now? And so on.

Oh he LOVES playing retrieve and "find it" (I put my hand over his eyes so he can't cheat!). He's great at it, always finds it even when I can't see where I've thrown it! We do play quite a lot when out on our walk, but he usually mooches and sniffs a lot too, but now he's picking up sticks.... grr!

I call him to me when he picks up something he shouldn't, which always works as long as I've remembered to take treats with me. If I chased him I wouldn't get anywhere near him!! That's a GREAT game!! ha ha!

Yeah, just get something you can tie to a line (old washing line, blue rope, anything), then when he goes for a stick, hurl the COOL THING at him then pull the line back to you or make it dance about a bit so he can chase it. Ten times more fun and interesting than a stoopid stick :p
