To cut a long story short, i couldn't be at the yard when the farrier came so another horse owner got alfie in, etc.
alfie was not sound after farrier but i thought he probably was just a bit sore which he has been in the past so i gave him the weekend and then he worsened and by Monday he was hopping lame!
farrier was away so got vet out, she took shoe off and the nail was well over the inside of the white line in the sensitive part!! poor boy, he's now being poulticed and he is on the mend.
its so annoying and upsetting that my horse is lame because of the farrier, but i suppose everyone makes mistakes.
Has anyone else had this happen to their horse?
do you think its bad?
Im just hoping Alfie lets the farrier reshoe him, he was really nervous to shoe when i got him and he has taken 5 years to settle completely, now im praying we're not back to square 1 again, he's really going to anticipate pain when being shod,
