I don't know if it's good news or not!!
Axel was x rayed and definately does NOT have Kidding Spines, thank god
Nothing else showed up on the x rays at all.
He was then scanned and the actual bit where he has the most pain is right where the fascial edge is on the muscles in the lumbar region. Vet thinks he has ripped the muscle off of the fascia. This is causing him extreme pain and sciatica.
He had 4 injections of local anesthetic and steroids into this area and now I have to turn him out as much as possible, not ride and Vet is coming on tuesday morning to re-evaluate.
He did look less tucked up and was a lot happier in himself.
Will have to see what he's like then and decide what to do next.

I can't believe the change in him, he is definately less tucked up and so much happier in himself. He will always put his ears back but he didn't even try and bite me even when I did his rugs, and no sign of him trying to kick. Yay I have my old Axey back
It was quite bizarre when I turned him out, he did his usual grumpy trying to bite me as we were walking along, when halfway up the drive he stopped and looked about, when he walked on again he walked with a proper 4 beat walk, no pacing!!
He even moves differently too, he is actually picking his feet up instead of sliding them along. Something I think I must have got used to. Before the treatment when he walked his foot falls went 12...34, 12...34 as opposed to 1234 like a normal horse. Well he walks like a normal horse now
I'm so pleased!!
