Hi all. I'm looking for a turnout rug for Boo. I was initially planning on getting a good second hand rug, such as a Fal, but out of all the 5'9 rugs on ebay only 2 are used and both of those are standard neck.

I've seen Axiom rugs on ebay, and thought that they could be a possibility. She won't be going out when the weather's bad etc aside from a leg stretch. Have had a look and they don't get terrible reviews or anything, so am serously contemplating getting one in the near future.

Those of you who have a combo version, can you tell me what they're like in the wither/neck joining area please? Are they all one piece of fabric or joined with binding? Also is the ining more 'blankety' or smooth?

Odd questions I know but she's just getting over a very sore open area on her withers and I think I'll have to be really careful when it's healed so that nothing rough or stiff opens it again.

Many thanks

I've got a stable and a turnout, I bought them about 3 years ago and both are used as spares, so don't have daily use but They seem fine, the only thing I would say is their sizing very generous, you may need to order a size smaller.

^^^^ditto^^^^

I have 2 for Bob and for the money they are good rugs. He has managed to break all the leg straps, but he generally does that for fun anyway.

This is our second winter with them and they are standing up to Bob's 'enthusiasm' very well!!!

I would definitely buy them again.

Hi i have a stable combo which i am really pleased with, the size is very generous, my mare has a 6.9 and could of easily got away with a smaller size, it more or less wraps underneath her and keeps her snuggly warm

No sure if the stable rug sizing equates the same as the turnouts but would be interested to find out as im on the hunt for a new turnout

Thanks.

Are they quite roomy in the chest/shoulder then? She takes a 5ft9 length wise but is incredibly scrawny-I don't mean a bit lean I mean pathetically thin (I haven't had her long before I get branded the abuser lol), and rugs moving around are going to rub her bony bits....but then she'll have one or even two underneath it-she doesn't have the body fat to eep herself warm yet.

Also, are the necks a nice lenth,or do the flap around halfway up?

I have several and love them, I would certainly buy more of them considering they are a decent bargain imo. I find they are slightly generous and are roomy in the shoulder, my horse's is a bit big for him and he is rather narrow around his chest but despite this he hasn't had any rubs from the rug and he wears it 24/7, he is also prone to rubbed shoulders. The necks are also a good size, my horse has a freakishly long neck and this rug covers him up well. The inside lining is smooth, no joins and it hasn't rubbed him although his mane is slightly on the thin side, not majorly (sp?) though. I never had an issue with rubbing on the pony and this rug was the only one he never destroyed.

My filly lives in hers 24/7 too and has been fine so far. Have only had it just over a month so cant vouch for the longevity of them but it fits her quite well and no signs of rubbing so far. I had a 6'0'' for her and it fits just right, maybe a tiny bit big around the shoulder but she is very scrawny at the moment. Was surprised to hear people think they are generous sizes though, lola's 6'0'' fits her well when other 6'0'' combo's have been too big for her and has needed a 5'9''. I've got my eye on a few other Axiom ones though so would def recommend, especially for the price.
